How to Fix Driver Settings Not Saved After Shutdown or Restart

Many Huion users report that their driver settings (such as pen pressure, button shortcuts, or display calibration) revert to default after shutting down or restarting their computer. This issue can occur due to several reasons, including:

  • Driver Permission – The driver may not have the necessary administrator permission.
  • Incorrect Driver Installation – The driver may not be properly installed or configured.
  • Driver Malfunction – The driver may be corrupted or outdated.
  • Software Conflict – Other applications (e.g., antivirus, drawing software) may interfere with the driver.
  • User Account Permissions – The driver may not have permission to save settings.
  • Windows Fast Startup (for Windows users) – This feature can prevent proper driver initialization.
  • Driver Running in Compatibility Mode – Running the driver in an unsupported mode may cause issues.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Reinstall the Huion Driver
    1. Uninstall the current driver:
    2. Visit our official Huion website and download the correct driver for your device and OS. Follow the installation steps carefully.
    3. Restart your computer and check if the settings are saved.
  2. Run the Driver as Administrator (for Windows users)
    1. Open the driver, then go to "Settings" > "General" tab > click the "Administrator privileges" button, if available. Allow the changes to your computer, and wait for the driver to refresh. If you don't see the "Administrator privileges" button, your driver is already running with administrative access, and you can skip this step.
    2. If you don't want to do this every time you turn on your computer, locate the Huion driver in your system tray or the list of startup programs.
    3. Right-click the driver shortcut (or .exe file) and select Properties.
    4. Go to the Compatibility tab and tick "Run this program as an administrator".
    5. Click Apply, then OK, and restart your computer.
  3. Disable Windows Fast Startup (for Windows users)
    1. Press Windows + R, type powercfg.cpl, and press Enter.
    2. Click "Choose what the power buttons do" on the left.
    3. Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
    4. Uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)".
    5. Click "Save changes" and then restart your PC.
  4. Check for Software Conflicts
    1. Temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall, and then test to see if the settings are saved.
    2. Close other drawing/tablet-related software (e.g., Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint) and check if the issue persists.
  5. Manually Backup and Restore Settings
    1. Open the Huion driver and configure your settings.
    2. Look for an "Export" or "Backup" option in the driver settings.
    3. Save the configuration file and re-import it if the settings reset.
  6. Check User Account Permissions (for Windows users)
    1. Ensure your Windows account has administrative privileges.
    2. If you are using a work/school PC, please get in touch with your IT administrator for permission adjustments.
  7. Test on Another User Profile
    1. Create a new user account and install the Huion driver on that account.
    2. Check if the settings are saved correctly in the new profile.
